Hey guys, Happy Monday!
Hope your week is starting off right and the day is going great. Mine was, despite me having an early 8:30am lecture and quiz this morning, until my travel card just happened to disappear immediately right after I’d topped it off! I know, let’s just say I can be quite careless at times. Nevertheless I bought some comfort food (waffles with melted chocolate, my favourite) and got over it.
Currently I’m listening to Bryson Tiller’s album – Trapsoul (for the 100th time). My favourite songs are “Exchange”, “Don’t”, “Been that Way”, “Let Em’ Know” and “Right My Wrongs” (I know basically the whole album, lol). I’m now contemplating whether I should catch up on some Scandal and The Originals or start my group presentation. Think I’ll go with the first option, it’s been a pretty long day after all.

Seven months ago, I left home and got on a sixteen hours flight to the other side of the world, to start my exchange programme in a country called Singapore. Singapore despite being one of Asia’s smallest country, is a well developed and modernised country. English is the primary language spoken there but as well as that, many also speak Mandarin Chinese, which was the main reason why I had chosen to study there.

Like any student (who chooses to study abroad), I was extremely excited to start this new journey. I wanted a change in lifestyle and a new experience, but even more I’d been told by past students in my position, that their year abroad was by far, their BEST YEAR EVER! That being said I had no idea what living and studying in a completely different country would be like.

Cultural shock hit me hard! For the first few days I was filled with the excitement of being somewhere new, so I did it all. I started with visiting famous tourist attractions (Chinatown, Orchard Road, Bugis Street and Marina Bay Sands) and shopped a lot. I went to many parties and met people from different parts of the world. To top it up, local food here is extremely affordable so I was eating well. Some could say I had it all and was living the LIFE.

But soon this feeling wore off. As time went on I started to feel a huge sense of loneliness, something I never thought would be a problem since I’m usually quite content with being by myself. To make it worse, I began to get really sick as my body was finding it hard to adapt to the climate difference. So in attempts to fill this empty void, I’d call everyone and anyone back home. Keep in mind there’s an eight hours time difference so you can imagine how impractical it was.

Fast forward to now and I still get quite homesick from time to time but I’ve learnt to deal with it. This year has by far been the toughest year of my life but also pretty great. There has been times when I felt as if this was all a big mistake and why had I chosen to come to Singapore now. But despite everything, I don’t regret it. The past few months have been interesting, something I would never forget, or change.

My advice for anyone considering studying abroad. Think about it, think deeply about it because it is tough and not everyone can or will be able to handle it. Save up, a lot (trust me you’d thank me later). And if you want to do it, do it but do it wholeheartedly, be prepared for sunshine and rainbows but also thunder and storm because the experience will definitely challenge you like no other. But we all love a good challenge, don’t we!

Hey guys, HAPPY NEW MONTH!
Hope you’re having a great week so far and the month is starting off right. It’s quite weird because while I can swear that everyone and their mama were claiming that January felt like a never-ending month, it flew for me.
This outfit is definitely a different feel from the last but with me, when it comes to style and fashion, I’m someone who doesn’t have a particular kind of style but if i like something, I’ll wear it. So definitely stay tune for a mixture of more different types of outfits and styles here on my blog.
Thank’s for reading,

Current Beauty Favourites

Hey guys, so I thought today I would share some of the beauty products that I’ve been really loving and using constantly for the past few weeks.

1. KIKO Makeup Milano: Mat Base Corrector Primer. Since I have oily/combination skin, a mattifying face primer is an essential for me and this particular primer has been an absolute life-saver for me the past few months especially with the extreme heat and humidity here in Singapore. I apply it a few minutes after moisturiser and it just helps smooth the surface of my skin while mattifying it.

2. Mac: Prep + Prime Fix +. I use the Mac fix + after I am completely done doing my makeup. It helps remove the whole powdery dull look while helping with the overall finish of my makeup, helping everything blend well together and adding a natural glow.

3. Urban Decay: Naked Eyeshadow Palette. I’ve been using this palette for years now and it’s definitely one of my favourite palettes. The shadows are super pigmented and really looks beautiful on the eyes. Although it is on the pricey side I would definitely say it’s one of those that are worth the money.

4. Makeup Revolution: Vivid Baked Bronzer and Milani: Tantastic Baked Bronzer. Like almost everyone I have been obsessed with the highlighting, strobing and glowing trend. Something I like to do is layer my highlighters together and these two combined, looks absolutely bomb! They’re golden toned so they really complete medium to dark skintones.

5. Revlon: Colorstay Foundation – Cappuccino. I’ve nothing but love for this foundation. It’s affordable, medium to full coverage and long lasting.

6. Nyx: Eyebrow Gel – Espresso. For my brows this eyebrow gel has made life easier. It’s affordable and really does help create that HD full brow look.
Inglot: Gel Eyeliner – No. 77. This eyeliner is amazing. My eyes tends to water a lot and even still this gel does not smudge or wear out and it’s a really black colour.

7. Mac: Matte Lipstick – Antique Velvet and Wet n Wild: Lipstick – Mochalicious. I have been literally obsessed with brown and nude lips lately. Two which I always tend to go for are Mac: Matte Lipstick – Antique Velvet which is a dark brown and Wet n Wild: Lipstick – Mochalicious which is a nude mid-toned brown. Both are matte and works with almost every makeup look.

8. La Girl: Lip Liner – Chocolate (Dark Brown), NYX: Lip Liner – Dark Brown (Dark Brown) and NYX: Lip Liner – Nutmeg (Nude Brown)I’m a lipliner girl, so I literally use lipliner everytime I wear lipstick. I’ll line the outer edges of my lips with a dark brown to define its shape but also to help the colour blend better with my skintone. I’ll also fill in my lips with liner and find that it helps my lipstick last the entire day without the need to reapply or retouch.

9. E.l.f: Oil Blotting Sheets. Like I said before the climate here in Singapore definitely isn’t makeup friendly especially for oily skin, so throughout the day I like to blot my t-zone with this blotting sheet. It helps absorb the excess oil and doesn’t remove any makeup and the fact that it’s only $1 definitely makes it a complete bargain.

Websites I use to purchase some of these products online: Amazon, Ebay, ikatehouse and Beautyjoint.

“And suddenly you just know it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings” -Elite Daily

So I was struggling to think of what to title this blog post since it is my very first one, but then my sister suggested Chapter I since it is the start of a new exciting journey, so welcome to the first chapter!
Right now I don’t think I can even describe how I feel, it’s a mixture of excitement and nervousness as I am so happy that my blog is finally able to launch. For the past few months, I have been researching, planning, preparing and working on it and it feels so good to finally be able to share it. I won’t lie, it definitely wasn’t easy, who would have known that there’s so much to blogging and actually creating a website and me being a technical novice certainly didn’t help, but neither-less here we finally are. This moment feels even more special since today is actually my 19th birthday (well at least in Singapore, anyways), so double celebrations!
I bet your wondering, why blogging, why now and where did the name ‘Your Favourite Muse’ come from, well all is explained in the About Me page, so do check it out.
I’ve got so many great ideas in store as I plan not just to post about fashion and beauty which I love but also include a lot of lifestyle and travel to add flavour to my blog. Also if you have any suggestions or ideas for future posts, please do let me know.
Thank you so much for reading and stay tune for much more.
