So thought I’d do this Fall tag, to share a little more about myself:

  1. Favourite fall lip colour?
I want to say black since I was rocking it last week and surprisingly fell in love with it. But my heart says brown, any type of brown; dark, mid-tone, nude – just give it to me.  My top two go-to at the moment are Mac in “”Antique Velvet” (which I’m wearing in this shoot) and La Girl lipliner in “Perfect Brown”
  2. Favourite fall nail polish?
Gold, love it and also that’s kind of the only nail polish colour I have here with me in Madrid. I wasn’t bothered to bring any of my polishes which sounds ridiculous now that I think about it.
  3. Favourite fall drink?
Do I need to say it……… just messing actually only tried pumpkin spice latte for the first time today and honestly I didn’t really like it, it was just okay.
  4. Favourite fall fashion?
Coooooaaaats, I missed not being able to wear coats while living in Singapore so much, so definitely coats. I love how they complete a look, giving it that high fashion and chic look and thigh-high boots of course, they make me feel totally bad-ass in a cute way.
  5. What are you listening to right now?
EVERYTHING, literally got 500 new songs over the past few weeks and I’ve been listening to everyone but my at this very moment I’ve got; Usher feat Future – Rival, Etta James – At Last, PCD – Halo and Tory Lanez – a lot of the songs from his album, on replay.
  6. Favourite TV shows?
Can’t believe I’m saying this but I haven’t been watching any TV series lately. Heard Vampire Diaries is back and Elena is back for the final season so might get back into that. But The Originals and Scandal are definitely two of my favourites whenever they decide to come back.
  7. Favourite thing about fall?
The fashion, like almost every fashion blogger, I love layering, furry coats, scarves, boots – everything. I am kind of upset that I won ‘t be able to wear my shades as much anymore but you’ll probably still see them on me.
  8. One thing you want to do this fall?
Ice-skating. Quick story but 3 years ago me and a bunch of my friends were all supposed to go ice-skating. After me spending forever organizing it and getting super excited, everyone canceled so it never happened. So hopefully this year I can finally try it.

Hey guys, so today I’ve hair-product breakdown on an Oil Hair Blend that I was sent by Pure Essence (a company that sells natural hair care products). Now, considering I’m team-natural and did chop-off my hair not so long ago, I was really excited to try it out.

Packaging: The oil blend came in a cute purple velvet pouch. Inside the pouch, alongside the product was a nozzle and two cards which showed the ingredients and directions for the product. The actual bottle is a firm plastic (won’t break) and the nozzle that can be attached on, is a life-saver. It helped with applying the oils directly to my roots, ensuring the oils got to where it was needed most.

Product description: This Oil Hair Blend is a special formulated blend of organic healthy hair growth oils that nourishes the hair inside out. It can also be used to aid dandruff and dry scalp.
The ingredients include- Jojoba Oil, Argan Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Yiang Yiang Oil, Vitamin E and Lemon Oil.
Before using this hair oil blend, I did do my own research and found that all the ingredients mentioned above are extremely good for promoting hair growth, preventing hair strands from breaking and drying up. While a lot of them are also proven to make your hair softer, silkier and shinier.

My experience: As I mentioned earlier, around 15 months ago, I chopped all my hair bald. As my hair was in an extremely unhealthy condition with little to no growth and constant breakage. Since then, I made it my business to take care of my natural hair.
For this oil blend, I used it 3-4 times weekly and with the nozzle I applied it directly on my scalp. A trick I read, which is great before applying any product, is spritzing a little water to your hair first, which helps moisturises it. Then applying the oil seals in the moisture. I also tried a hot oil treatment, to protect my hair from protein loss.
Two months after using the oil blend, I noticed a great change in my hair. My hair was much thicker and it had grown a lot. Both things it promised to do. Honestly, I was so amazed that I had to get my little sister and mum to confirm that I wasn’t seeing things.

This is a great product that I would recommend, especially for the affordable price.

Conclusion: ★★★★ (4.5 stars)

  • Bantu knots were done by myself, it’s pretty easy. I followed this and this tutorial on Youtube.
  • To lay me edges I used the Gorilla Snot Gel which is brilliant for hold down any type of hair even natural, without giving that flakey look.
  • To achieve the black lips I used a black eyeliner with black eyeshadow on top.

This is part II, of my study abroad experience that is. Yes, I am abroad again, in Madrid (Spain) to be precise, this time on the Erasmus programme as part of my third year in university. I know I know, I’m always travelling (so it seems) but me having the opportunity to study abroad for two consecutive years, was the choice I was given by my uni as part of my degree (International Business with Mandarin).

So why Madrid, why Spain? Well, honestly I literally chose to study in Spain based on the fact that I’d been on holidays before here (Barcelona) and really just loved it. Also, I don’t think I’ll be able to live in a country with an extremely cold climate anymore. But bear in mind that I’ve actually never learnt Spanish or knew any prior but I guess that I’m learning now (well sort-of).

It’s been over a month now since I’ve moved here and honestly my opinion of studying in Madrid is quite mixed. I won’t be fake and lie, pretending that I’ve loved every single second of my time here and wouldn’t trade it for the world cause there have been times that I’ve second guessed my decision. Maybe it’s due to the fact that it feels as if I’m constantly having to restart my life somewhere new, every so often. But moving away to a brand new country, by yourself is not easy. For me having previously studied abroad, in some ways killed the innocence and excitement of trying something new for the first time.

However, don’t get me wrong I’ve really enjoyed being here. Madrid is a beautiful city, “the city of thousands faces” I think they call it but really it should be – the city that never sleeps because no matter what time of the day it is, there’s always a lot of people, everywhere. It’s always alive. And the weather, the 26 degrees of heat, is not something you can complain about. My favourite part, the food. Pizza and kebabs are super cheap here, so I’ve definitely overdone it. I finally got to try Taco Bell which was just okay, nothing spectacular and the famous churros and chocolate from San Gines (which is a must in Madrid). Also, I think it’s safe to say I’m officially obsessed with nachos and melted cheese.

It really is one of those experiences that has to challenge you in order for it to be great, so I believe. Like I said a few months ago, studying abroad is not easy but it’s not meant to be. Like anything in life, they’ll be bright beautiful spells but also thunder and lightning. After when it’s all said and done, in the end you’ll be proud that you’ve done it, you’ve experienced it because great things never came from living within your comfort zones!

Hey guys, happy Sunday!
So I’m back again, with another bright and fun outfit in collaboration with Grass-Fields. Since it was Nigeria’s Independence Day 56th anniversary yesterday, I definitely took pride in wearing this eye-catching and really pretty top, that gave me numerous of compliments. On that note, I’ll like to wish my fellow Nigerians a happy independence day, hope you all celebrated and had an amazing day, I certainly did. Spent the day vibing with other Africans and Caribbeans which honestly was pretty nice especially since there’s very few of us here. Also tried some Senegalese’s cuisine (Thiébou guinaar) for the first time, which I really liked.

About to take a quick siesta since I barely got any sleep last night and also maybe because it’s now a daily routine.

But before I go, I just really want to thank everyone for the numerous amount of support I receive continuously with Your Favourite Muse. I really do appreciate all the likes, comments, shares and feedbacks that I get from you daily. Really and truly, thank you!

The hair I’m wearing is the Kinky Curly Human Hair Blend Extensions which I bought from a hair company called Jorie Hair. It comes in a set of 3 Bundles – 14inch, 15inch & 16inch with a tiny 14inch closure.

Initially, when I received the hair, I first thing I was drawn to was how pretty the curls were, the hair was quite soft. The weft was well constructed and there was no distinctive smell.

I didn’t do any prior prep to the hair in terms of co-washing, but literally went straight to making it into a wig. In terms of the application of how I made it into an afro-style wig, I just followed this tutorial from Freebornnoble on YouTube which was super easy. I did double my weft for the back and single the wefts at the front, also I used the closure it came with as well as created another closure both mid-front. Once done I trimmed the very front (2-3 inches to create the fringe and 1 inches for the outer-edge), to frame the face.

When it comes to styling, I’ve been wearing it as a full-on big afro, with two side bangs falling in front and I love it!

Pros:

  • Super Affordable, literally the cheapest hair ever.
  • Little to no shedding.
  • Easy to maintain and style.
  • Fast shipping (3-5 working days UK -> Irl).
  • Easy to make into a wig.
  • No strong smell.
  • Creates that sassy diva look, which I’ve totally been loving.
  • Perfect winter hair, keeps you warm.

Cons:

  • Human hair, so you can’t bleach or dye the hair.
  • Doesn’t get wet. When washing/ co-washing the hair doesn’t soak up water, the water just stays on the top. Which makes it hard to revitalise the curls.
  • Difficult to wear in extremely hot weather, as the afro is almost like a hat.
  • Question it’s longevity.

Conclusion: ★★★★ (4.5 stars)
