Travel Diary: Trip to Kuala Lumpur| Malaysia

Day 1

Billykiss’ Travel Diary: Trip in Kuala Lumpur| Malaysia – Your Favourite Muse

Since my flight was in the afternoon, I hadn’t the chance to do much today day.  By the time I finally arrived in Kuala Lumpur I was exhausted! I’d spend the night before doing last minute packing (bad idea), so didn’t get the chance to sleep much. So I went straight to my hotel to checked in. Afterwards, I went to Plaza Low Yat, a nearby shopping mall to get some food as hunger soon crept in. I went to the restaurant Kopi Club and got the Nasi Goreng Ayam Ber (fried rice with fried chicken and cooked lettuce) and Ice Mango Tea. I was so hungry that I chopped it down so quickly but honestly the meal itself wasn’t the best.

Today was filled with many exciting and heart-racing adventures. To begin the day, the inner shopaholic in me decided to visit Suria KLCC which is a massive shopping mall with numerous floors and endless stores. From then I went to see the famous Petronas Twin Towers, which is absolutely magnificent, even in the scorching heat I was gazing at it in awe for ages (I’m such a tourist).

Then I went to get some lunch from a restaurant called Warisan and ordered Nasi Kukus Ayam Goreng Berempah (steam rice, amazing grilled chicken with some awesome spicy sauce and some pineapple and lettuce on the side) and Ice Milo. It was absolutely delicious, and incredibly filling. But still went to get a  sugar donut in Starbucks, to enjoy their free wifi.

The evening was when all the fun began as I headed to Batu Cave, which is one of the most famous Hindu shrines and famous loyal tourist attraction outside the city. Everything seemed fine until I found myself surrounded by numerous crazy monkeys 328 ft. high, from that moment I discovered how much I was petrified of these scary creatures. The top of the cave was quite disappointing however, as for some reason I expected more.

Today was another great day. Firstly I had Mee Hoon Goreng (Fried Mee Hoon), a plate of fresh fruits, tea and some orange juice breakfast.

Then I went to visit the Islamic Art Museum. I’d plan to initially only spend a few minutes there, however two hours later, I was still there observing and gazing as the many unique and incredible artwork. By the time I decided to leave I’d taken over 200 photos (don’t worry I only included a few). From there I paid a quick visit to the beautiful National Mosque of Malaysia.

After, I finally got to try fresh coconut water from an actually coconut and it was sooo refreshly good. Definitely a lifesaver in the 37 degrees heat.

Then I went to Chinatown and bought a couple of gifts for my friends and family. The day ended with me diving into a buffet of pakistani cuisine at a restaurant called Paradise. I got some vegetable pulao (fried rice), big and small fried chicken (cause I love chicken and I’m extra), suji Halwa (triangle), vegetable sauce and some garlic naan bread  with some Ice Milo of course. Everything was so amazing, especially the garlic naan which are my favourites.

Today was my final day in Kuala Lumpur and honestly I didn’t want to leave.

I got up early and visited Thean Hou Temple, which is the biggest chinese temple in Kuala Lumpur. Many chinese people go there to worship and pray to the god of mercy, some even get married there, which I witnessed. Can’t even begin to describe how beautiful the temple is, hope the photos I took can do the talking.

From there I went to Berjaya Times Square and after getting overwhelmed by the multiple endless number of stores, I decided to get some snack. Since I’ve got the biggest sweet tooth, I got a white chocolate chip cookie from Famous Amos and a sugar cinnamon pretzel from Auntie Anne’s, both were quite disappointing as I found them very difficult to chew. However the star of the show was my beverage which was a caramel cream frappuccino with chocolate chips, cream and caramel drizzled on top from no other than Starbucks. It was the best thing ever and I went back to Singapore extremely satisfied.
